FSBC Swim Team
Our team boasts over 400 participants and the area’s largest mini program. We welcome swimmers of all abilities! Many of our swimmers are very competitive. Others are more interested in getting exercise and spending time with friends in and out of the water.
Each summer, FSBC mini-dolphins learn to swim and love the water. Older Dolphins gain fitness and hone their skills. Our goal is to create a fun, supportive environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities. We actively foster camaraderie and emphasize the importance of good sportsmanship. We hold morning and afternoon practices and offer a full calendar of social events.
Our younger swimmers grow up on the team, learning from and enjoying the support of the older swimmers. Many eventually become swim coaches, and, in turn, cheer on and teach the next generation of young swimmers. Parents watch their swimmers build important relationships and lasting friendships with teammates and coaches.
The FSBC swim team competes in the top division of the Jefferson Swim League (JSL). Each summer we compete in six dual meets (two teams competing). Three of these meets are at “home” and three are “away”. The final competitive event of the summer is the JSL Championship Meet (known as “Champs”) where all 18 teams in the league compete over two days.
Swim Team Registration Process
Step 1: Sign-up for all volunteer slots or pay to opt out of volunteering. Families of meet team swimmers will need to sign up for 4 meet volunteer slots. Families of practice team swimmers will need to sign up for 1 social event volunteer slot. If you would like descriptions of each volunteer position, please see this list of job descriptions.
Step 2: Complete Registration for your swimmer(s). Within 48-72 hours of completion of volunteer sign-up, you will receive a registration form/link to complete the registration process. You will pay swim team fees online at that time. We are no longer accepting checks for swim team fees.
Leadership and Coaches
The FSBC Swim Team program is run by our Aquatics Director, Becky Bryan. The team is led by our head coach Wesley Kittelberger. She will be joined by an experienced team of returning and new senior coaches.
Meet and Practice Teams
The meet and practice teams function as a coherent whole and practice together. The only difference is that swimmers on the meet team opt to participate in the dual meets.
Social Events
Social events are a fun and important part of the season! We will update the website with our social calendar in the early spring.
Volunteering at Meets
Each family with a swimmer participating in the JSL meets is required to volunteer for at least FOUR meets.
Other ways to volunteer
Our coaches spend hours working on meet line-ups each week on Sundays at 3PM and we’d like to provide them with a meal to enjoy while they work. The sign-up is set up for one person but if you want to do this with a friend, please do!
