FSBC is an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider. We offer lifeguarding classes designed to train lifeguards to act with speed and confidence both in and out of the water. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion. Our classes follow the blended-learning course format, which includes an online learning portion.

The Red Cross requires that students:

• Are at least 15 years old by the final day of class
• Be able to swim 300 yards without resting or stopping
• Dive 10 feet for a 10-pound brick
• Kick 20 yards on their back with the brick
• Tread water for 2 minutes without using their arms

Swim Tests will be conducted at the beginning of each class. Attendance is mandatory for all class days and students must complete all online coursework (which will be emailed out 10 days prior to the class start) before the class. Online coursework takes approximately 10 hours to complete.

All lifeguarding students are eligible for employment at FSBC upon successful completion of the course.

FSBC will refund class registration costs less the $47 Red Cross Certification Fee for lifeguards that become lifeguards at FSBC and work at least 12 shifts over the course of the summer. 

FSBC will not refund classes for participants that do not complete online coursework in time, do not fully attend class, or do not pass the Red Cross-required swim tests.

Lifeguard Certification classes are $250/FSBC Member and $340/non-member. Lifeguard Recertification classes are $180/member and $240/non-member. Classes are refundable less a $60 fee until May 1, 2026.

Certification classes are 8 AM – 6 PM each day, unless otherwise noted. Recertification classes are 4 PM – 9 PM each day, unless otherwise noted.

FSBC will provide Lifeguard Certification classes on the following dates: 

• May 23 -24, 2026
• June 6 -7, 2026
• June 17-18

We will provide Lifeguard Recertification classes on the following dates: 

• June 2-3, 2026
• June 15 -16, 2026
