FSBC is an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider. We offer lifeguarding classes designed to train lifeguards to act with speed and confidence both in and out of the water. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion. Our classes follow the blended-learning course format, which includes an online learning portion.
The Red Cross requires that students must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class and be able to swim 300 yards without resting or stopping, dive 10 feet for a 10-pound brick, kick 20 yards on their back with the brick, and tread water for 2 minutes without using their arms. Swim Tests will be conducted at the beginning of each class. Attendance is mandatory for all class days and students must complete all online coursework (which will be emailed out 10 days prior to the class start) before the class.
All lifeguarding students are eligible for employment at FSBC upon successful completion of the course. FSBC will refund class registrations for lifeguards that become lifeguards at FSBC.
Lifeguard Certification classes are $250/FSBC Member and $320/non-member. Lifeguard Recertification classes are $180/member and $240/non-member. Classes are refundable less a $40 processing fee until May 1, 2023. FSBC does not offer refunds for students that do not complete online coursework or pass the swim tests. FSBC lifeguards must work a total of 12 four-hour shifts in order to be reimbursed for class fees.
